Thank you to the thousands of campus and community volunteers who worked with us throughout the year. It’s been one of our best years to date, and we look forward to a great coming year starting with our programs this fall.

In just one year, our AmeriCorps members and over 3,000 campus and community volunteers worked to improve 15 waterways across New Jersey. Together, we logged 20,000 hours of community service across the state! We held 56 river cleanups, removing over 50 tons of trash from our state’s rivers and ocean. We also educated 6,598 school children about their waterways and the importance of a clean environment. Together with student interns, we completed 525 hours of stream monitoring on 15 streams and rivers, recording data and reporting violations to local authorities.

Since the inception of New Jersey Community Water Watch in 1994, the program has:

  • Organized 404 waterway cleanups.
  • Removed over 900 tons of trash from waterways across the state.
  • Educated over 93,000 students
  • Monitored 60 waterways issuing 1,403 pollution reports.
  • Formed 135 community water watch groups.
  • Worked with 31,890 volunteers who served 163,902 hours.
  • Trained 195 AmeriCorps members who logged over 287,000 hours of service.
  • Appeared in the media over 500 times, including being featured in a nationally televised AmeriCorps public service announcement.
