Waiting to shower in New Orleannns

ByJessica Franzini - 3/19/2008 4:27 pm

Today is Wednesday, March 19th, and we have been in New Orleans for 3 days. I spent my first 2 days working on the house I am sleeping in, which is right next door to the Lower Nine headquarters. Mr. Turner is the owner of the house - he lives behind us in a small trailer with his wife and dog. We have been hanging drywall, "mudding" as Turner calls it, sanding, primering, and painting his house. He's a cool guy, he has taught us alot and he's always kidding around. Some time I have trouble understanding him so I bring the hammer instead of the sander, but that's okay.

Today I got to go with a new group! We did some switching so that everyone would have a chance to rebuild. I went with the debri removal crew, and it was a good change. We worked outside, and we didn't have to sand, YESSS :) but I had to go to the landfill to unload a GINORMOUS trailor of debri, and that took over 2 hours! It was insane seeing so many families at the landfill unloading all their damaged belongings. There was a truck to my left, a truck to my right, trucks all over, seaguls flying everywhere, and this raunchy smell that Isabell described as "eggs that sit in the fridge for so long that they'e green," YUCK! I tried to take some pictures but was immediately told to put my camera away by a worker that said, "everything is legit here, there's no need for you to take those." Working at the debri site was cool because we found lots of baby frogs and salamanders, WHOA COOL!

YO YO PHI AND TIM, YOU GUYS RUUULE!

shower time for meeeee :)
